WORKING PARTY TEAM

There is always an opportunity to participate in a Working Party Mission Trip. We are currently working on plans for another team to go in October 2024.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

This is your opportunity to be on the ground in East Timor, ask us for more details or attend an info session.

VEGETABLE GARDENS

In 2016 the Working Party Mission Team built an example veggie garden for the people of the village. Since then other teams have significantly increased the size of this once small garden. This has been cared for by the people of the village and in September 2017 had its first successful harvest. The money raised by the selling of the vegetables at a local market has been used to buy more seedlings and a proportion will be put into the new Bahareduk education fund.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Some materials we can only source in Australia and send with a Mission Trip team - ask us what materials you could provide for the village gardens.

WATER

In 2016 major work was undertaken to improve the water supply to and throughout the village. In 2017 a water evaluation was undertaken to provide a long term plan to improve the supply and ensure enough water as the village continues to grow and for their vegetable gardens.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Some materials we can only source in Australia and send with a Mission Trip team - ask us what materials you could provide for the village water supply.

HOUSING

YWAM East Timor has committed to the village and the people to provide every family with a house. Over the past 10 years it has been amazing to see how the number of houses being built keep increasing.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Come along on a Mission Trip and experience brick making for yourself, or organise a fundraising event.

SHELTER PROJECT

Launched by YWAM East Timor in 202, this project provides a 'home' at the base in Dili for children from the village of Bahareduk so they can access further education and have a safe place to live.

It is important to be able to provide a safe home as many children when leaving the village for further education suffer physical and emotional abuse by those entrusted to care for them.

Since beginning the project, students have flourished as they receive good nutrition and a safe place to live, as well as a growing understanding and development of the Christian faith.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Sponsor a child from Bahareduk to live with YWAM in Dili for $US200 per month

YWAM

Members of the YWAM team who care for us and also the village are all missionaries, which means they rely on donations and sponsorship for their housing, food and general living expenses.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Either give a one-off donation to YWAM East Timor or make the commitment to regularly support a member of the YWAM team on a monthly basis.

EDUCATION

There are many opportunities to assist in the area of education both for the students and the teachers.

In the village of Bahareduk an education fund has recently been created which will further support the Government school via the provision of stationery, supplies, teacher training and expansion of classrooms.

A proportion of the money raised from the selling of vegetables, from the main village garden, will go towards this fund.  The materials supplied for the individual vegetable gardens will incur a small cost, which will also go towards this fund.

In the village of Hera, the non-government school also receives support through members of the Working Party Mission Trips working at the school and the provision of various stationery materials for the children and teachers.

MEDICAL NEEDS

There is little to no medical facilities in the village of Bahareduk at present.

A local Timorese girl is presently studying nursing with a view to returning to the village to assist with their medical needs. Her university fees have been covered through sponsorship. Further medical professionals are required for the village on a long term basis.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Basic medical supplies are always appreciated...the kids LOVE bandaids.

MONEY BOXES

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Purchase a money box ($10) and start collecting your loose change. Even those is may seem small it makes a BIG difference for Bahareduk.
